Home Nursing Matcher
Answer 3 quick questions about your parent's care need, the hours required, and your city to see which category of home-care provider actually fits — with honest cost ranges and what to check before hiring.
Paying the nurse's salary every month from abroad?
A monthly caregiver wage sent from overseas adds up — bank transfer fees and weak exchange rates can quietly cost A$30–60 every single month. Wise uses the real mid-market rate, so more of what you send actually reaches the caregiver.

Are these cost ranges exact quotes I can rely on?
No — treat them as a realistic starting range, not a quote. Actual rates vary by agency, the specific caregiver's experience, festival-season demand, and how far the home is from where providers are based. Use the range to sanity-check quotes you receive, not to negotiate a specific agency down to a number you saw here.
Is a trained nurse always better than an attendant?
Not necessarily — it depends entirely on the care need. For company, help with meals, mobility, and daily routine, a well-trained attendant is often the right fit and considerably cheaper. A qualified nurse's training matters specifically for wound care, medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and recognising when something needs escalating to a doctor. Paying nurse rates for company-only care, or trying to get by with attendant-only help when there are IV lines, tracheostomy care, or ventilator support involved, are both common and costly mismatches.
What if I can't find a qualified nurse in a smaller town?
This is a real and common gap — trained nurses, and especially ICU-trained nurses, are concentrated in larger cities. Options if your parent is in a smaller town: ask the treating hospital if it runs its own home-care or step-down program — many larger private hospitals now have an in-house home healthcare division covering nurse visits, physiotherapy, sample collection, caregiver support and equipment rental, and it's often the fastest route to arrange if your parent was recently treated there. Also check whether a home-care agency based in the nearest larger city will send staff (often at a travel premium), or ask a local nursing college or ANM training institute if any of their graduates take private home-care work directly.
