Emergency-Ready

Most of the panic in a crisis comes from scrambling for things you could have had ready. Work through this once, and a future emergency becomes a plan instead of chaos.

Your emergency-ready checklist

Tick these off — progress stays on your device.

  • Fill in the Parent Profile — doctors, meds, blood group, insurance, IDs.
  • Make an Emergency Card — print it for the fridge, save the QR to your phone and your siblings'.
  • Save 112 and 108 and the nearest hospital number in your phone and your parent's.
  • Identify a local point of contact (relative/neighbour/carer) who can reach the door fast.
  • Set up SOS and emergency contacts on your parent's phone — see phone setup.
  • Get the Ayushman card sorted if 70+ — see Ayushman Bharat.
  • Confirm money access for emergencies — who can pay a hospital fast, and how.
  • Agree the who-calls-whom order with siblings so everyone knows their role.
  • Keep your own passport/visa & a go-bag mindset ready — see emergency trip.
  • Share the plan: send the Parent Profile to siblings so no one person holds it all.

Worth Knowing

You won't get all nine done today, and that's fine. Even three of these — a Parent Profile, a local contact, and an SOS phone — would put you ahead of most families when a crisis hits. Start there.
