How to stay safe from phone scams

Scammers target older people. These rules keep you safe:

  • Never share an OTP (the one-time code) with anyone — no bank or officer will ever ask for it.
  • No real police or court will video-call you, threaten "digital arrest", or demand money. Hang up. It is always a scam.
  • If anyone asks you to install an app so they can "help" with your phone or bank — say no.
  • When in doubt, put the phone down and call your family first. A genuine matter will wait.

Free health cover if you are 70 or older

Every person aged 70 or above in India can get a free health card worth ₹5 lakh a year — no income limit. It helps pay hospital bills. Ask your family to help you apply through the Ayushman App, or call 14555.

Useful official finders

These free government websites help you find what you need:

💊
Find a Jan Aushadhi store for the same medicines at much lower prices.

If you need help

Tell your family what you need — a little help at home, someone to talk to, or a doctor's visit. Asking is not a burden; it lets the people who love you do something for you. You matter, and help is there.

A Gentle Note

Your children being far away does not mean you are alone. Keep your phone close, your important numbers saved, and your neighbours' numbers handy. You've looked after everyone for a lifetime — it's alright to be looked after now.
